Thousands of Palestinians have begun moving north toward Gaza City following the withdrawal of Israeli forces from parts of the territory. Footage shows crowds walking along the coastal road as a temporary ceasefire took effect at midday.
The Israeli military had earlier restricted movement along the route to prevent civilians returning prematurely during its redeployment to new positions within Gaza. The troop pullback forms part of an agreement brokered by the United States and regional mediators.

Gaza City, once home to about a million residents, was largely evacuated during Israel’s recent ground offensive. With the ceasefire now in force, Israeli officials confirmed that movement between southern and northern Gaza is permitted through Al-Rashid Street and Salah al-Din Road.
