A clash between policemen and a soldier at the Ugwuachara area of Ebonyi State on Wednesday has resulted in the death of a passerby and injuries to three others.
The incident reportedly began during a stop-and-search operation when policemen attempted to confiscate a soldier’s motorbike after he allegedly refused to comply with the search. An eyewitness said the situation escalated into a scuffle, during which gunshots were fired, leaving one bystander dead and three others injured.

While confirming the incident, Ebonyi State Commissioner of Police, CP Anthonia Uche-Anya disclosed that both the policeman and the soldier involved are in police custody, and an investigation is underway.
The CP added that the injured victims are receiving medical treatment, while the body of the deceased has been deposited in the morgue.
