Nigeria’s Home-Based Eagles face Congo Brazzaville in their final group match at the African Nations Championship in Dar es Salaam, with coach Eric Chelle insisting the clash is a must-win.
The Eagles were eliminated after back-to-back defeats, including a dismal showing against Sudan in Zanzibar. Chelle admitted his side had made “too many errors” but urged players to show mental resilience and fight for pride.

Speaking after the Sudan loss, he said the priority now is, in his own words, ‘to bring something home’ by securing a positive result at the Benjamin Mkapa Stadium.
Coach Chelle called on his players to show greater mental strength and prove they are capable of responding under pressure. Chelle added that while tactical decisions are guided by analysis and player performance, the overriding objective is always victory.
The Eagles will attempt to end their CHAN campaign on a more positive note when they face Congo at the Benjamin Mkapa Stadium.
