The incident led to a major traffic jam, stretching as far as Mowe and the 7-Up area in Lagos. Many commuters were forced to abandon their vehicles and continue their journey on foot.
LASTMA later confirmed that two lanes had been reopened, with recovery efforts still ongoing to remove an articulated truck. The crash is the latest in a series of accidents involving heavy vehicles on the expressway, which has recently undergone reconstruction.
