A High Court in Port Harcourt has issued a restraining order preventing the Nigeria Police Force, the Department of State Services (DSS), and five other entities from summoning or taking action against Edison Ehie, Chief of Staff to Rivers State Governor Siminalayi Fubara.
The case is linked to the alleged arson at the Rivers State House of Assembly complex. The defendants include the Inspector General of Police, the Rivers State Commissioner of Police, the Police Service Commission, and senior officials of the DSS.

Justice I. Igwe ruled that the defendants must not invite, interrogate, detain, or harass Ehie until the substantive case is resolved.
The controversy surrounding the alleged arson resurfaced after George Nwaeke, the state’s former Head of Service, accused Mr Ehie of receiving funds from Governor Fubara to orchestrate the incident, claims that have added to tensions within the state’s political landscape.
