Justice Binta Nyako of the Federal High Court in Abuja has barred all parties involved in the lawsuit filed by suspended Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan from granting media interviews or streaming court proceedings on social media.
The judge issued the order on Friday after Kehinde Ogunwumiju (SAN), counsel to Senate President Godswill Akpabio, complained that Akpoti-Uduaghan had been making public statements on television about her case, which remains pending before the court. Ogunwumiju alleged that the senator had appeared on international media platforms such as BBC and CNN.

In her ruling, Justice Nyako emphasized that the case was sub judice and directed that no party or their lawyers should engage in press discussions or live streaming of the proceedings. The case, which was transferred from the court of Justice Obiora Egwuatu, is challenging the senator’s six-month suspension.
Akpoti-Uduaghan’s lawyer, Jibril Okutepa (SAN), urged the court to expedite proceedings, noting that her suspension was time-bound. He requested a consolidated hearing of all pending applications alongside the substantive suit.
