Court Blocks INEC from Acting on Alleged Fictitious Recall on Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan

The Federal High Court in Lokoja has issued an interim injunction preventing the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) from accepting or acting on any recall petition allegedly containing fictitious signatures against Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan.

The ruling also bars INEC from conducting a referendum based on such a petition. The order followed an ex parte application citing urgency, filed by Anebe Jacob Ogirima and four other registered voters from Kogi Central Senatorial District.

The application, moved by counsel Smart Nwachimere of West-Idahosa, SAN & Co., was granted by Justice Isa H. Dashen on 20 March. The case underscores ongoing political tensions in Kogi Central amid attempts to challenge the senator’s mandate.
