A Magistrate Court in Kuje, Abuja, has granted bail to human rights activist and SaharaReporters publisher, Omoyele Sowore, and several others arrested during the #FreeNnamdiKanuNow protest in the Federal Capital Territory.
Also granted bail were Nnamdi Kanu’s lawyer, Aloy Ejimakor, his brother, Prince Emmanuel Kanu, and eleven others. They were arraigned on charges of unlawful assembly and disturbance of public peace.

Presiding Magistrate Abubakar Umar Sai’Id granted each defendant bail in the sum of ₦500,000, with conditions including a verified National Identification Number, a three-year tax clearance certificate, and the submission of passports.
Sowore’s arrest on Thursday by police operatives outside the Federal High Court in Abuja drew widespread criticism from civil society and human rights groups, who described it as an attempt to stifle dissent and civic expression.
