A Magistrate Court in Ekiti State has granted human rights lawyer Dele Farotimi bail in the sum of ₦30 million. The court also directed him to provide three sureties with landed properties within its jurisdiction.
Farotimi was ordered to surrender his international passport and refrain from granting media interviews. The case has been adjourned until 13 February 2025.
He arrived at the court in Ado Ekiti on Friday in a prison van, escorted by police officers. He acknowledged a cheering crowd as he alighted from the vehicle.
Farotimi, who pleaded not guilty to the 14-count charge brought against him by the police, had his bail ruling reserved at the last sitting. His counsel, Adeyinka Olumide-Fusika, had earlier filed a preliminary objection, urging the court to dismiss the charges.
