Court stops police from arresting Media Personality Nedu in N83m contract row

A federal high court in Lagos has barred the police from arresting popular media personality Nedu Wazobia over an alleged N83 million contract dispute.

Justice Deinde Dipeolu issued the interim order after Nedu and five others filed an application alleging harassment by the police at the request of their business partners. The order restrains the inspector-general of police, the assistant inspector-general at Alagbon, and officers including Ngozi Braide, Stephen Onihane and Echeng Julius from summoning or interrogating them.

The dispute relates to a 2024 fundraising gala organised in partnership with Tolulope Ariyibi-Oke under the Metropolitan School of Business and Management. The project had a budget of more than N83 million, but Nedu’s team rejected a demand by the respondents for a N60 million refund.

The case has been adjourned until 29 September. Meanwhile, Nedu has denied allegations of fraud made by activist VeryDarkMan and has issued a defamation notice seeking N500 million in damages.
