COVID-19: Nigerian government imposes midnight curfew

The Federal Government has imposed a nationwide curfew to further limit the spread of the COVID-19 virus.

The National Incident Manager, Mukhtar Mohammed, made the announcement at the Presidential Steering Committee on COVID-19 briefing yesterday.

Mr. Mohammed said the curfew will run from 12 a.m to 4 a.m daily.

He noted that gatherings of religious groups and weddings have been reduced to a 50 percent attendance, while official engagements, meetings, and conferences should continue to hold virtually.

He also added that night clubs, gyms and indoor recreational facilities are to remain closed until the 11th of June. when it will be reviewed.

There were no restrictions made to inter, or intrastate travels.

Meanwhile, the Chairman of the Presidential Steering Committee on Covid-19, Mr. Boss Mustapha announced the implementation of a unified cost of Covid-19 testing across ECOWAS states.
