The Cross River State Government has appointed Pula Advisors as the Lead Consultant for its European Union Deforestation Regulation (EUDR) Compliance and Traceability Programme covering cocoa, coffee and oil palm. The announcement follows a six-month technical review by the State’s Multistakeholder Committee, which described the partnership as a major step toward strengthening sustainability governance.
Governor Bassey Otu said the initiative positions Cross River at the forefront of digital agriculture in Nigeria. He noted that meeting stringent global sustainability standards is essential for securing long-term market access for farmers and safeguarding the state’s competitiveness.
Officials say the programme will deliver full visibility into land use and supply chains through land mapping, geolocation analytics and a unified digital information system. The state believes this will support compliance with the EU’s new requirement for deforestation-free commodities.
