The Nigeria Customs Service and the Nigerian Communications Commission have agreed to strengthen cooperation in regulating communications equipment entering the country. The heads of both agencies, Adewale Adeniyi and Aminu Maida, met in Abuja to discuss measures aimed at protecting government revenue, improving public safety, and ensuring consumer protection.
Customs stressed the importance of aligning tariff codes with regulatory certification and flagged security concerns over the unregulated use of devices in high-rise buildings and sensitive urban areas. The service also emphasised the need for tighter border controls and better officer training.
