The Nigeria Customs Service has intercepted foreign currency worth ₦653 million at the Mallam Aminu Kano International Airport.
Officials say the funds, concealed in cartons of clothing, were discovered during a clearance operation following credible intelligence. The seizure was announced during a press briefing at the Customs House in Bompai.

A passenger arriving from Saudi Arabia on an Ethiopian Airlines flight, identified as holding a Ghanaian passport, allegedly failed to declare the money as required by law.
Recovered currencies included over $420,000, pounds sterling, and CFA francs. Three suspects were handed over to the EFCC.
Customs officials said the operation underscores ongoing collaboration with anti-graft agencies to safeguard the country’s financial and national security.
