Africa’s richest man, Aliko Dangote, has pledged N8 billion towards the construction of a presidential library in honour of former military president, Ibrahim Babangida. The commitment was announced on Thursday during the public presentation of the former Head of State’s autobiography titled ‘A Journey in Service’, and a fundraising event held in Abuja.
Mr Dangote, who outlined his support for the project, will provide N2 billion annually over the next four years. Several other prominent Nigerians also contributed to the initiative, including Abdul Samad Rabiu, founder of BUA, who donated N5 billion, and retired General Theophilus Danjuma, whose TY Danjuma Foundation pledged N3 billion.

Senate President Godswill Akpabio announced a N50 million donation, while businessman Arthur Eze committed N500 million. Mustafa Chike-Obi of Fidelity Bank also contributed N100 million towards the project.
