The Dangote Group has agreed to redeploy workers dismissed by its petroleum refinery following talks brokered by the federal government. The Ministry of Labour and Employment announced the resolution after reconciliation meetings held on Monday and Tuesday.
Aliko Dangote, founder of the group, met with Finance Minister Wale Edun, Labour Minister Mohammed Dingyadi, and leaders of the Petroleum and Natural Gas Senior Staff Association of Nigeria, PENGASSAN, in Abuja.

The ministry said the disengaged workers will be absorbed into other subsidiaries of the group without loss of pay. It also reaffirmed that unionisation is a right of workers under Nigerian law and must be respected.
Both parties agreed no worker will be victimised over their role in the dispute, and PENGASSAN confirmed it would begin the process of calling off its nationwide strike, which started on September 26.
