Six Nigerians, including Aliko Dangote and Femi Otedola, have been named among Forbes’ 2025 list of the World’s Black Billionaires. The ranking features 23 Black billionaires globally, out of 3,028 individuals on Forbes’ annual World’s Billionaires list.
Dangote, Africa’s richest man and chairman of the Dangote Group, topped the Black billionaires ranking with a net worth of $23.9 billion. His fortune surged by $10.5 billion following the full operation of the Dangote Refinery in 2024. Mike Adenuga, owner of telecom giant Globacom, follows as the second Nigerian on the list, ranking fifth globally with $6.8 billion. BUA Group founder Abdulsamad Rabiu ranks sixth with a net worth of $5.1 billion.

Other Nigerians on the list include Adebayo Ogunlesi, CEO of Global Infrastructure Partners (GIP), with $2.2 billion, ranking 11th. Femi Otedola, chairman of Geregu Power, follows in 12th place with $1.5 billion. Tope Awotona, founder of scheduling software company Calendly, rounds out the Nigerian presence in 14th place with $1.4 billion.
Forbes noted that Black billionaires make up just 0.8% of the world’s total, with their combined wealth standing at $96.2 billion. Many of them, including Nigeria’s representatives, have built their fortunes in finance, energy, and technology.
