Billionaire, Aliko Dangote, has petitioned Nigeria’s Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission to investigate and prosecute Ahmed Farouk, the Managing Director of the Nigerian Midstream and Downstream Petroleum Regulatory Authority. Dangote’s petition, filed in Abuja, accuses the regulatory chief of corruption and financial impropriety, including alleged misuse of public funds.
The petition lists specific claims about spending on private overseas education for his children which Dangote says lack clear lawful income sources.
Dangote’s lawyers submitted evidence and asked the anti-graft agency to act according to its statutory powers. The complaint seeks arrest and prosecution if wrongdoing is established.
Officials at the ICPC have acknowledged receipt of the petition. The House of Representatives Joint Committee reportedly intervened to summon both parties and ask them to refrain from public comments.
