Dangote Rolls Out 4,000 CNG Trucks Amid Monopoly Claims

Marketers Warn Dangote Over Fuel Distribution Plan

The Dangote Group has deployed 4,000 Compressed Natural Gas, CNG, trucks in Lagos as part of a ₦2 trillion investment in transport and logistics.

Aliko Dangote said the fleet would ease fuel distribution, stabilise supply, and create thousands of jobs.

The move comes as petroleum marketers accused the group of monopolising the downstream sector. Dangote rejected the charge, stressing that the rollout has already generated 24,000 jobs and aims to modernise Nigeria’s transport network. The company plans to expand the fleet to 10,250 CNG trucks by November.

Mr. Dangote also outlined future plans to introduce electric vehicles by 2026 and grow fertiliser output, positioning Nigeria as a leading global producer. The group currently lifts 40,000 tonnes of diesel monthly and has exported 1.6 billion litres of fuel, which Dangote said highlights its role in driving energy security and industrial growth.
