A devastating fire outbreak at an Islamiya school in Kaura-Namoda Local Government Area of Zamfara State has claimed the lives of at least 17 Almajiri students, leaving 16 others injured. The fire broke out late Tuesday night and raged for about three hours before it was finally contained.
Eyewitnesses say the blaze may have been triggered by stored sticks, locally called ‘kara’, which fueled the flames. The victims were laid to rest on Wednesday, as the community mourned the tragic loss.

Confirming the incident, the Chairman of Kaura-Namoda Local Government, Mannir Muazu Haidara, stated that he was on his way to assess the situation and would provide further updates. Authorities are expected to investigate the exact cause of the fire and explore measures to prevent future tragedies.
