Some religious leaders have called on the Federal Government to declare a state of emergency on insecurity and the economy, citing rising violence and worsening living conditions. The call was made on Monday at an Easter media parley titled ‘State of the Nation’ in Lagos.

Isa El-Buba, President of El-Buba Outreach Ministries, described recent killings in northern Nigeria as acts of terrorism, alleging that more than 60 communities in Plateau State have been overrun. He urged the government to adopt stronger measures, including the creation of state police and improved support for security forces.

Also speaking, Mike Okonkwo, Presiding Bishop of The Redeemed Evangelical Mission, said economic hardship has intensified, with rising costs of living, unstable electricity supply and widening inequality. He called for urgent government intervention to address the situation.
