Defence Chief Applauds Lagos’ ₦500bn Food Security Drive

The Chief of Defence Staff, General Christopher Musa, has commended the Lagos State Government for its ambitious “Produce for Lagos” initiative, describing it as a bold intervention that connects food security with national stability.

Speaking at the programme’s unveiling, General Musa hailed the ₦500 billion Off-take Guarantee Fund as a visionary move that strengthens the state’s agricultural resilience and reduces dependence on external food sources.

He praised the strategic partnership between the state, the private sector, and firms like LAFSINCO, Ekolog, and the Lagos Bulk Trading Company, calling it a scalable model for nationwide adoption.

Highlighting the programme’s alignment with Lagos’ Agriculture and Food Systems Roadmap, the CDS said the state’s data-driven approach would strengthen value chains and combat insecurity through non-military means.

General Musa also lauded Governor Sanwo-Olu’s leadership and affirmed the Armed Forces’ support for peace-building and national cohesion efforts.
