Residents of Ute-Okpu Kingdom in Delta State are calling for urgent assistance after flash floods devastated parts of the Ika North East Local Government Area, displacing families and destroying property.
One of the affected residents, Simon Aliemeke, who is currently sheltering in a friend’s home, described the incident as more severe than previous floods, saying efforts to fortify his property had proved ineffective.

He said his family narrowly escaped harm, thanks to neighbours who rescued them while he was away. The flood swept through his home, destroying food items, school materials, clothing, and electronic appliances.
Aliemeke, now dependent on the goodwill of neighbours for meals, urged the Delta State government, federal authorities, and well-meaning Nigerians to provide relief and help affected families rebuild their lives.
