Nearly 3,000 residents of Iloba and Oloosape in Osun State are appealing for urgent intervention from both federal and state authorities, as they continue to live in displacement nearly six years after being forced out of their communities.
The predominantly farming population was reportedly driven from their homes in 2019 following a violent incursion by armed groups believed to have come from Egbedi, a neighbouring settlement.

Addressing journalists in Osogbo on Monday, the traditional ruler of Oloosape, Oba Hassan Adegoke, described the scale of destruction as extensive. He said almost every structure in Iloba and Oloosape—including his own palace—was either razed or severely damaged in the attack.
Oba Adegoke noted that since the incident, residents have been unable to return to their farmlands, disrupting livelihoods and deepening economic hardship. He called on security agencies and relevant government bodies to facilitate the safe return and resettlement of the displaced communities.
