Dozens of Syrian army soldiers and rebel fighters have been killed in northern Aleppo province as the Hay’et Tahrir al-Sham (HTS) armed group and its allies captured at least 10 areas controlled by Syrian President Bashar al-Assad’s forces, according to reports.
The UK-based Syrian Observatory for Human Rights (SOHR) reported that nearly 100 people were killed during the clashes on Wednesday. This includes 44 HTS fighters and 16 members of allied armed groups. The rebel offensive, targeting areas under government control, has intensified tensions in the region, which has seen years of conflict.

The observatory also reported civilian casualties, including children, as the fighting escalated. Syrian army forces responded by firing hundreds of shells and missiles at both military and civilian positions during the clashes, further worsening the humanitarian situation.
HTS, which controls a significant portion of northwestern Syria, launched the operation in a bid to expand its territory in Aleppo.
