Dozens of Palestinians have been wounded after Israeli forces raided Birzeit University near Ramallah in the occupied West Bank, firing live ammunition, sound grenades and tear gas on campus. Palestinian health officials say at least eleven people were taken to hospital, with some suffering gunshot wounds to the legs, while others were treated for tear gas inhalation and shrapnel injuries.
According to the Students, Israeli soldiers stormed the campus while lectures and examinations were underway, forcing many to flee in panic. Birzeit University described the raid as a deliberate violation of the sanctity of educational institutions, accusing Israel of pursuing a policy aimed at intimidating students and undermining their right to education.

The Israeli army said the operation targeted what it called a gathering in support of terrorism, following a student event held in solidarity with Palestinian prisoners. Palestinian authorities and education officials have condemned the assault, calling on international bodies and human rights organisations to intervene and hold Israel accountable for what they described as a breach of international law.
