The Department of State Services has arrested a medical doctor alleged to be supplying drugs to kidnapping gangs operating in parts of Kwara State. The suspect, whose identity has not yet been released, was intercepted in the Jebba area following intelligence reports about medical supplies being transported from Sokoto to treat injured bandits hiding in forested locations.
Security officials say many of the criminal groups have suffered gunshot wounds during recent confrontations with security forces. They warned that the gangs may attempt to infiltrate remote health facilities in search of treatment, urging authorities to increase surveillance around clinics situated near forests and border communities.
Confirming the arrest, Rafiu Ajakaye, Chief Press Secretary to the Kwara State Governor, described the development as a major breakthrough in the fight against kidnapping and banditry. He said the operation shows that security agencies are steadily cutting off the support networks sustaining the criminals.

Ajakaye added that the state government will continue working closely with security agencies to identify, track and dismantle all channels aiding criminal operations. He stressed that weakening these logistical links is essential to restoring safety and protecting residents across vulnerable areas.
