Dutch government suspends the use of Oxford-Astrazeneca vaccines

News - by RadioNow / Mar. 15th, 2021

The Netherlands is the latest country to cease the use of the Oxford-Astrazena vaccines citing concerns over possible side effects as the reason. The Dutch government says this is only a precaution and the suspension in distribution will stay in place till the end of the month.

Reports of blood clotting have been reported in Northern Ireland and Norway in adults who have been given the shots. However, The European Medicines Agency (EMA) – which is currently carrying out a review into incidents of blood clots – says the vaccine’s benefits continue to outweigh its risks.

Meanwhile, the world health organization says there’s no link between taking the oxford-AstraZeneca vaccines and blood clotting, advising countries not to stop using them.
