The Governor of Ebonyi State, Francis Nwifuru, has approved a Christmas bonus of one hundred and fifty thousand naira for all civil servants in the state for the 2025 festive season. He announced the decision on Sunday during a church service at the Government House Chapel in Abakaliki.
Governor Nwifuru said the bonus reflects his administration’s commitment to improving the welfare of public servants, despite what he described as reduced revenue to the state over the past year. He said the gesture is intended to support workers during the festive period.

Governor Nwifuru further noted that his administration has prioritised workers’ welfare, recalling the recent increase in the state’s minimum wage to ninety thousand naira. The adjustment, which took effect in August, places Ebonyi above the national minimum wage signed into law by President Bola Tinubu in 2024.
