Ebonyi State Governor Francis Nwifuru has expressed deep sorrow over the recent floods that have ravaged several communities in Afikpo and Abakaliki local government areas.
The disaster, which struck Enioha Itim, Kpoghirikpo, Azuoto and Okpuitumo, is reported to have claimed lives and destroyed property.

In a statement issued by his spokesman, the governor assured victims of immediate government support for relief, recovery and rebuilding. He said the state would work with local councils and agencies to deliver aid and rehabilitation measures without delay.
Mr Nwifuru also urged residents to factor climate change into their daily lives and community planning, calling the floods a stark reminder of the growing risks.
He pledged that his administration would not only assist victims but also prioritise preventive strategies to avert future tragedies.
