Edo Deputy Gov Stages Walkout As Aides Are Forced Out Of Govt Event

Deputy Governor of Edo State, Phillip Shaibu, on Monday, staged a walk-out at a state event after his aides, including security operatives, were refused entry.

The Deputy Governor was allowed into the venue of the 60th anniversary of the Midwest referendum organised by the state government, but his entourage was stopped from gaining access.

In a video, which has since gone viral, Mr. Andrew Okungbowa, Chief Press Secretary to Edo State Governor, is seen talking with the deputy governor while refusing his crew entry.

Deputy Governor Shaibu, who was angered by the development, left the event, saying he could not be where his media crew was barred from attending.

Following the incident, the State Government disbanded the media crew attached to the office of the Deputy Governor while Chris Nehikhare, the State Commissioner for Communication and Orientation, announced that his ministry will take over their activities.
