Education Minister launches ₦50 million Student Venture Capital Grant

The Minister of Education, Tunji Alausa, has launched the Student Venture Capital Grant in Abuja, offering Nigerian students access to up to ₦50 million in equity-free seed funding for their business ideas. He said the initiative aligns with President Bola Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda to encourage youth innovation and enterprise development.

Alausa explained that the programme will support student-led ventures with funding, mentorship and an intensive incubation scheme led by industry experts. He added that applicants must be enrolled in federal, state or private tertiary institutions and studying at least at the 300 level for undergraduates, or be master’s or PhD students.

Eligible projects must be registered with the Corporate Affairs Commission and fall within STEMM fields including Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics and Medical Sciences. Successful applicants will move to a second stage to pitch before a 12-member panel of professionals.
