Eight hostages—three Israeli and five Thai nationals—were freed from Gaza on Thursday amid tense negotiations. Their release followed an initial delay by Israeli authorities, who cited disorderly scenes at the handover point in southern Gaza. The transfer resumed later in the day.
Among the freed Israelis was soldier Agam Berger, followed by Arbel Yehoud and Gadi Mozes in Khan Younis, alongside the Thai nationals. This comes as part of the ongoing ceasefire and hostage exchange agreement.

Under the deal’s first phase, Hamas and other armed groups are expected to release 33 Israeli captives taken during the October 7 attacks. In exchange, Israel will free around 2,000 Palestinian prisoners.
Two previous exchanges have already taken place, but Israeli officials say eight remaining hostages set for release are no longer alive. The fragile truce remains in place.
