Eko Electricity Distribution Company, EKEDC, has announced the creation of a new subsidiary, Excel Electricity Distribution Company Ltd., to oversee its power distribution business within Lagos State. The new firm, fully owned by EKEDC, was established in line with directives from the Lagos State Electricity Regulatory Commission, LASERC, and provisions of the Electricity Act 2023.
Under the new structure, Excel DisCo will manage all electricity distribution in Lagos, while EKEDC transitions into a holding company. The company emphasised that Eko DisCo has neither been sold nor dissolved and remains jointly owned by West Power and Gas Limited and the Bureau of Public Enterprises.

EKEDC assured customers that service delivery, billing, and payments remain unchanged during the transition, noting that only branding will shift from Eko DisCo to Excel DisCo as regulatory compliance continues.
