The Federal Ministry of Education has clarified that all students must continue to register and sit for English Language and Mathematics in their O-Level examinations. The ministry said the new admission reform does not exempt any candidate from these core subjects but introduces a more inclusive and flexible approach to tertiary entry.
According to Education Minister Maruf Tunji Alausa, the policy aims to promote fairness by ensuring capable students are not denied admission because of weaknesses in non-core subjects. The adjustment, he said, modernises Nigeria’s education system and aligns it with global best practices.
