The European Union, EU, High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy, Josep Borrell, says the bloc is endangered by the Israeli disregard for orders issued by the International Court of Justice, ICJ, to stop military operations in Rafah.
According to him, introducing caveats, objections or exceptions based on non-legal grounds damages the EU’s values, and will damage its international standing and weaken its position on other issues including Ukraine.
He added that the respect of International law is not an option, and disregarding a decision of the ICJ will weaken the rules-based world order the EU supports and promotes everywhere.

Ahead of the EU Foreign Affairs Council meeting with Arab leaders today to discuss the situation in Gaza, Mr Borrell says that the EU needs to do more.
He added that it is time for the EU to take its responsibilities in front of what he calls a catastrophic situation of an unprecedented magnitude, as its moral and political credibility is at risk.
