The European Union has announced a 290 million euro investment package for Nigeria to support digital infrastructure, healthcare, manufacturing, agriculture and migration management.

The funding was unveiled on Monday in Abuja during the eighth Nigeria-EU ministerial dialogue co-chaired by Yusuf Tuggar and Kaja Kallas.

Officials say 131 million euros will go to the digital sector, including plans to deploy 90,000 kilometres of fibre-optic cable to expand internet access to about 33 million Nigerians, while the European Investment Bank and the Bank of Industry signed a 50 million euro deal to boost local healthcare manufacturing.

An additional 85 million euros will support agricultural value chains, and 16 million euros will fund migration programmes, as both sides say the initiative is aimed at strengthening economic ties and supporting Nigeria’s development priorities.
