Ex-Arsenal Midfielder Partey Charged with Rape and Granted Bail

Former Arsenal midfielder Thomas Partey has been granted conditional bail after appearing at Westminster Magistrates’ Court charged with five counts of rape and one count of sexual assault.

The 32-year-old Ghanaian is accused of raping two women and sexually assaulting a third between 2021 and 2022, during his time at the north London club. He was charged four days after leaving Arsenal at the end of June when his contract expired.

Partey, who appeared in court wearing a black jumper and trousers, confirmed his name and acknowledged his bail conditions, which include no contact with the alleged victims and mandatory notification to police of address changes or international travel.

His next court appearance is scheduled for 2 September at the Old Bailey. His lawyer, Jenny Wiltshire, says he denies all charges. Partey is reportedly preparing to join Spanish club Villarreal on a one-year contract with an option to extend.
