A former Chief of Army Staff, Tukur Buratai, has filed a N1 billion defamation suit against retired Major-General Danjuma Ali-Keffi. The suit, instituted at a Kaduna state high court on Thursday, follows statements allegedly made by Ali-Keffi linking Buratai to terrorism financing and the unlawful release of terror suspects.
Buratai, through his lawyers, described the allegations as false, malicious, and damaging to his reputation. He said the claims circulated widely on digital platforms, exposing him to public ridicule and harming his standing both in Nigeria and internationally.

The former army chief is seeking a court order for Ali-Keffi to retract the statements and issue a public apology across media platforms. He is also requesting N1 billion in general damages, a perpetual injunction against repeated allegations, and for the defendant to bear all legal costs.
