A Federal Capital Territory High Court in Kuje, Abuja, has granted bail to the former Executive Secretary of the National Health Insurance Scheme, Usman Yusuf, on a ₦5 million bond.
Justice Chinyere Nwecheonwu ruled that he must provide two sureties, who must present valid identification and proof of livelihood, either through business or civil service. Their addresses will be verified by court officials or prosecutors.
The case, initially set for April 3, was rescheduled due to the Sallah holiday and will now proceed on May 15, 2025.

Yusuf faces a five-count charge relating to alleged fraud involving ₦90 million. The prosecution claims financial misconduct during his tenure at the NHIS, though he has denied any wrongdoing.
The trial is expected to shed light on allegations surrounding his management of the scheme’s funds, a matter that has drawn significant public interest.
