Former Super Eagles head coach, José Peseiro, has been named the new manager of Egyptian giants Zamalek.
The Portuguese tactician takes over from Christian Gross, who recently departed the club. Zamalek’s management has reached a final agreement with Peseiro, and he is expected in Cairo shortly to sign his contract and hold discussions with club executives.

This appointment marks a return to Egyptian football for Peseiro, who previously managed Al Ahly during the 2015/16 season. His extensive coaching career includes spells at Porto, Sporting CP, and the Venezuelan national team.
Most recently, he guided Nigeria’s Super Eagles to the final of the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations, where they finished as runners-up. His tenure with the Nigerian Football Federation concluded in February 2024.
