Former Nigeria international, Emmanuel Amuneke, has predicted that Super Eagles winger, Ademola Lookman, could succeed Victor Osimhen as African player of the year.
Victor Osimhen, who clinched the prestigious award last year, was instrumental in Napoli’s historic Serie A triumph, their first in over 30 years.
According to Emmanuel Amuneke, Atalanta’s forward, Ademola Lookman, with his remarkable performances for both club and country, is next in line to claim the CAF Player of the Year title.
The 26-year-old forward played a vital role in Nigeria’s 2023 Africa Cup of Nations campaign, scoring three goals and adding an assist in seven matches.

At the club level, he was the standout star in Atalanta’s UEFA Europa League success, scoring a hat-trick in the final against Bayer Leverkusen, earning himself a spot on the prestigious 30-man Ballon d’Or shortlist, making him the only African player to be nominated this year.
