The Federal Competition and Consumer Protection Commission has warned manufacturers and distributors against circulating unsafe products, saying violators will face sanctions. The commission gave the warning on Wednesday in Abuja during events marking the 2026 World Consumer Rights Day.
The Executive Vice Chairman, Tunji Bello, represented by Boladale Adeyinka, said the agency continues to find products that fail to meet basic safety and quality standards. He cited cases of poor labelling, substandard goods, and misleading practices across several sectors.
The commission said it has intensified market surveillance and product testing, and is working with other regulators to curb the circulation of unsafe goods. It added that compliance with safety standards is a legal requirement under the Federal Competition and Consumer Protection Act 2018.
