Senator Ireti Kingibe has described the appointment of Nyesom Wike as Minister of the Federal Capital Territory as President Bola Tinubu’s greatest political misstep. Speaking in an interview monitored by Radio Now’s Newsdesk, the FCT senator accused Wike of autocratic leadership and a disregard for the rule of law, alleging that he reinstated defunct agencies without legal backing.
Kingibe claimed Wike had revoked 7,000 hectares of land originally allocated to the University of Abuja, in breach of the Land Use Act. She also said land meant for a general hospital in Bwari was withdrawn and reassigned for commercial development.

The FCT senator criticised Wike’s approach to local governance, accusing him of firing female street sweepers without replacement and refusing to pay hundreds of small indigenous contractors, which she said had deepened hardship among residents. Kingibe questioned polls rating Wike highly, suggesting they lack credibility.
She concluded by saying that she plans to submit documents to relevant oversight bodies, calling for more accountability from the minister. She also accused Wike of bypassing the National Assembly and failing to account for internally generated revenue.
