The Federal Government of Nigeria has unveiled an ambitious plan to distribute N75,000 cash transfers to approximately 70 million of the nation’s most vulnerable citizens by 2025.
The announcement was made by Professor Nentawe Yilwatda, Minister of Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Reduction, during an interview monitored by Radio Now’s Newsdesk.

Professor Yilwatda explained that the initiative aims to cover all 36 states and the Federal Capital Territory by the end of January 2025. The program, he noted, will leverage the National Identity Number, NIN, system to register up to 18.1 million households, with each household averaging four to five individuals.
The government’s strategy, according to the Minister, is to ensure that the benefits reach those in greatest need.
