Telecom operators had long called for a tariff review, citing economic pressures that have hampered their operations. Industry players pointed to factors such as the devaluation of the naira, forex instability, vandalism, theft, insecurity, and rising costs as major challenges to network expansion and service delivery.
The increase comes after years of deliberation and follows repeated warnings from operators about the unsustainable nature of current tariffs in the face of Nigeria’s economic realities.
