Federal Government Declares Tuesday and Wednesday Public Holidays For Eid-el-Fitr Celebration

The Federal Government has declared Tuesday and Wednesday as public holidays to mark this year’s Eid-el-Fitr celebration.

Making the announcement in a congratulatory message to the Islamic faithful in the country, Mr Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, the Minister of Interior, called on the Muslim faithful to imbibe and practice the virtues of kindness, love, tolerance, peace, good neighbourliness, and compassion as exemplified by the Holy Prophet Muhammad (Peace be upon Him).

Eid-el-Fitr festival is celebrated by Muslims worldwide after observing the month of Ramadan in fasting for 29 or 30 days.

President Bola Tinubu arrived in Lagos ahead of the Eid-el-Fitr celebration yesterday in the evening.

He was received at the presidential wing of the Murtala Muhammed International Airport by Lagos Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu, and top government officials.
