Federal Government Launches 50% Yuletide Travel Palliative

The Federal Ministry of Transportation has unveiled a 2024 Yuletide Road Transportation Palliative, aimed at easing festive travel for Nigerians.  

Starting Tuesday, December 24, the scheme offers a 50% discount on road transport fares to various destinations nationwide. Speaking on Monday, Olujimi Oyetomi, Director of Press & Public Relations, said the initiative will run for 13 days, ending on Sunday, January 5, 2025.

Transportation Minister Ahmed Alkali directed key unions, including the NURTW, RTEAN, God Is Good Motors, and the Association of Luxury Bus Owners of Nigeria, to ensure timely deployment of over 700 buses across 144 routes, with designated loading points in each state capital. Notably, Onitsha will serve as Anambra State’s terminal.  

In Lagos, northern-bound passengers will board at Oshodi Terminal 3, while southern routes operate from Terminal 2. Luxury buses will depart daily between 6:00 and 7:00 p.m.
