The Minister of State for Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Reduction, Tanko Sununu, says the Federal Government will soon disburse cash transfers to 2.2 million poor households across the country. He disclosed this during a TV interview.
Sununu explained that the National Social Safety-Net Coordinating Office was responsible for identifying vulnerable Nigerians through the national social register. He added that payments would begin before the end of August.

The minister said significant progress had already been recorded under the Conditional Cash Transfer programme, with ₦419 billion disbursed to five million Nigerians. According to him, 71 percent of the beneficiaries are in the northern part of the country and 21 percent in the south.
He maintained that the administration had introduced several interventions aimed at supporting the poor and vulnerable, stressing that the new phase of payments would deepen efforts to reduce poverty nationwide.
