The Federal Government has warned that it will assume control of any unfinished sections of the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway if contractors fail to complete them by April.
Minister of Works, Senator Dave Umahi, made the announcement on Tuesday while addressing State House correspondents after the Federal Executive Council meeting, chaired by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu at the Presidential Villa in Abuja.

Senator Umahi reiterated the government’s commitment to delivering the long-overdue project, stressing that further delays would not be tolerated.
The Lagos-Ibadan Expressway, a N213 billion project, was divided into two phases. While the first phase has been completed, work on the second remains unfinished. According to the minister, an additional N30 billion is required to complete the remaining sections, including an 8.55-kilometre stretch of the Lagos-bound carriageway.
